Liquid Barrier vs. Bait Stations: Which Termite Treatment Works Best in Las Vegas?

2 min read

If you get termite quotes in Las Vegas, you'll usually hear about two options: a liquid barrier treatment or bait stations. Both are real treatments. They work very differently, and they cost you differently over time. Here's a plain comparison so you can decide.

How a liquid barrier works

A technician trenches the soil around your foundation and drills through concrete along the foundation line, like patios and driveways. A professional-grade termiticide goes into the soil, and the drill holes are sealed. Modern non-repellent termiticides don't scare termites away. Termites move through the treated soil without noticing, pick up the product, and carry it back to the colony.

At Aspire, most homes are treated in about one day.

How bait stations work

Plastic stations are placed in the ground around the house, usually every several feet. Termites find the bait, feed on it, and share it with the colony. The stations have to be checked and refilled on a schedule, so most bait programs come with an ongoing service contract.

Why we use liquid barriers

Subterranean termites come up from the soil, and a liquid barrier treats that soil all the way around the home at once. You aren't waiting for termites to wander into a station, and you aren't signing up for years of monitoring fees. That's why Aspire Pest & Termite Control specializes in liquid barrier treatments and doesn't sell bait station programs.

One customer put it this way in a Google review: "The termites are getting terminated with aspire =) with very much more effective way that just putting stakes around the house."
